First off: I know the title is terrible. Now, onward.
I am writing this slightly out order, as I should have started at Day 13 (or rather, Day 1, but nothing happened then). Anyway, I ventured off once more into the wild and this is where I visited.

Moo’s Craft Barbecue
Moo’s debuted their curbside pickup service. Pre-orders were taken on their website, info which was shared on the Gram. Instructions were emailed and directions were very straightforward. I ordered the Texas Trinity plate: brisket, ribs, and pork verde sausage, along with two sides (I chose mac and corn). Pickup was fairly quick and the food was delicious as always.

Smokey Jones
Russ and Viv prepared a selection of their sausages: cooked, packed, and chilled. They are ready to be used in any culinary creation you can come up with-or just warm up and enjoy as-is (they are already very tasty). They offered Garlic, Jalapeno, and Black Pepper Coriander. I ordered Garlic, but that Black Pepper Coriander is worth it to your taste buds. Orders were done by DM on the Gram. Pick up at their usual spot was super quick. If you paid, you’re all set. If you needed to pay; cash, card, or Venmo were your choices.

The Bad Jew
A relative newcomer, Rebecca had made a strong impression with her corned pork (The Reubecca) and brined Porkstrami (The Danny Boy) sandwiches that would make even the most devout Jew take a second look. The Bad Jew offered curbside pickups of their sandwiches. Orders were done by DM on the Gram. I was kinda late-I think everyone picked up their orders and I was the only one she was waiting for. (Sorry.) They come in kits you build yourself. I got The Danny Boy and a little extra meat (thank you!) with which I plan to make a killer scramble. When I say “killer,” I mean to my arteries.

Tripp Burgers
Mark was feeling restless 😉 and missed serving at this usual spot. He also offered curbside pickup this weekend. I placed my order through his order website, which he shared on the Gram. He made time slots available to choose from, along with his Singles and Doubles-no Four-Stacks this time! D: Pickup was as easy as pulling up along the sidewalk, giving a quick shoutout to Mark, and picking up your name-labeled order on the curbside table. Orders came in bags which also included chips and condiments-although most purists would do without the latter.
Popups and small businesses in general are seeking ways to do what they do best in the middle of our current health crisis. It is challenging being able to serve their customers and being conscious of the best practices of cleanliness and social and physical distancing. But this is all uncharted territory we are all going through. While it is imperative to be safer at home, there is a part of me that still desires to support these small businesses whenever I can-but I have to be smart about it, of course.
So far, I’m alive.
